A Partial Can Restore the Function and Appearance of Multiple Teeth Lost in One Area of Your Mouth

Losing multiple teeth in one area of your mouth, whether it is a blow to the face or multiple tooth decay issues, can be a serious problem. Beyond simply impairing your ability to efficiently chew food, it can also slur your speech and mar your physical appearance.

Dr. Ira J. Dolnick has several different restorative dental applications that can serve to address a problem like this. One of the least invasive is to simply fit you for a custom partial.

This is basically an abbreviated form of dentures that correspond to the shape and location of the missing teeth. The artificial teeth are set into a material that mimics the appearance of gum tissue, which also serves as a foundation to hold them tightly in your mouth.

Dr. Ira J. Dolnick will start by examining your mouth and taking a few x-rays to assess any other questionable teeth. If he finds that additional teeth in the area are compromised, they might also need to be extracted.

Once all questionable teeth have been addressed, Dr. Ira J. Dolnick will cast a detailed impression of the area. This includes the surrounding gums, neighboring teeth and the corresponding teeth in your bite. The impression will then be sent to a dental lab where your new partial is custom made to match your mouth.

Many people with a partial like to use denture adhesive to secure it in place. The adhesive also helps to block food particles from getting between the gums and your partial.

If you are interested in being fitted for a partial, you should call Dr. Ira J. Dolnick’s office in Morton Grove, Illinois at 847-299-3365 to schedule an appointment.
